ASCENT Research Colloquium and Discussion Forum 2017
The Social Policy Analysis and Research Center (SPARC), Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo participated in the Advancing Skill Creation to Enhance Transformation (ASCENT) Research Colloquium and Discussion Forum organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna funded by ASCENT consortium held from 27th February to 4th March 2017 at University of Ruhuna, Kamburupitiya and Fisherman’s Bay Hotel, Weligama Sri Lanka. The colloquium covered an array of topics related to disaster management such as Research Methods, Disaster Risk Resilience, Observation and Experimental Studies, Interviews, Delphi Method, Systematic Reviews, Questionnaire Survey: Planning and Design and Research Ethics.
The colloquium further provided trainings on; research profile designing, understanding the impact of research, online presence, interdisciplinarity of research, fundamentals of advocacy and communication and case studies of international collaboration. Seventy academics representing the United Kingdom, Sweden, Estonia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka participated in the event. SPARC is one of the local partners of the ASCENT Project.
